MODEL HDP-55 ::: Infinite Controlled Heated Platform For Metal Drums

Platform Heater, Model HDP-55 is constructed of rugged, 14 gauge, galvanized steel and is designed to warm non-flammable, non hazardous material contained within metal 55 gallon drums.  Read all "Warnings" before using Model HDP-55.

Model HDP-55 comes equipped with two 750 watt, fully encased heating elements located within the platform cavity.  The top surface of the platform is elevated three and one half inches above the floor surface. Comes equipped with a six foot power cord and a special three pin plug.  For 120 volt/1,500 watt operation,  use a Hubbell single outlet #5361. For 240 volt/1,500 watt operation, use a Hubbell single outlet #5661.  The power cord is also encased within a heavy duty BX sheath for extra safe operation.wpe1.jpg (67862 bytes)

Typically, two fifty-five gallon metal drums full of material to be heated are placed upon the heater platform using a drum lifter or similar device.  Energize the heater by setting the three heat switch to "High" and the infinite control to "Full On".  If the platform is already "HOT", extreme care must be taken when placing the drums to be heated so as not to cause possible injury to the operator.

WARNING:

Read this warning before operating The Heated Platform For Metal Drums.

The following precautions must be observed to avoid possible injury or property damage!

  • The Heated Drum Platform MUST NOT be used in any area where FLAMMABLE VAPORS may, AT ANY TIME, be present.  Failure to observe this caution can result in a fire or explosion.

Monitor the temperature while heating your material!

  • Do not use the Heated Drum Platform to heat FLAMMABLE MATERIALS.  Explosion or fire could result.

  • The Heated Drum Platform surface is HOT during operation.  Do not use the Heated Drum Platform on or near where combustible substances can be ignited, resulting in a fire.

Never use the Heated Drum Platform to heat flammable materials or use in hazardous areas!

  • To avoid heater failure, do not allow the heater and/or the controls to become wet or spill materials upon them.

  • The Heated Drum Platform must be ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED to avoid the possibility of electrical shock to the operator.  Never alter or remove the special high ampere, three pin, electrically grounded plug supplied as an integral part of the heater.

  • The USER must determine the suitability of the Heated Drum Platform for the intended heating application.  DO NOT LEAVE the Heated Drum Platform UNATTENDED during the heating cycle.  Disconnect the heater from the wall receptacle when it is not in use.

  • The Heated Drum Platform is for INDOOR USE ONLY.

  • Make sure that the container is fully seated upon the platform in order to ensure even heating.

  • Vent the container while heating or it may explode.

  • DO NOT use drain spouts or valves on drums or pails that can fail at elevated temperatures, causing leaks, loss of material and/or possible  personal injury to the operator.

Never use the Heated Drum Platform to heat material contained within plastic or plastic lined drums or containers!

  • NEVER use a Heated Drum Platform inside or adjacent to HEAVY AIRBORNE DUST LOCATIONS such as grain elevators, grain silos, hay storage areas, etc...

  • Know how applied heat will affect your material before using the Heated Drum Platform.  If you are not sure how to heat your material, do not use the Heated Drum Platform until you are informed as to how the application of heat will affect your material.
